Hello from sunny Vietnam!

Lots of fun stuff to share from the past couple of weeks.

Recently I have been volunteering at a local school/orphanage for kids who for one reason or another cannot attend the government run public schools. It has been a great experience and it was all the better this last visit because Owen was able to join me! When we left I asked him to describe the school and he said, "hot!" Here are some pics, if you are so inclined please send some special thoughts across the Pacific to these youngsters...

We all have been missing our pups, Ang especially, thankfully she has been able to make friends with some of the neighborhood dogs and even started to care for a momma cat and her two kittens. They come and go but Ang has already fallen in love.

We made our way outside of the city in an effort to find some outdoor furniture and came across a factory that we could buy from direct. It was cool to see a small factory operation...all local materials, 95% of it gets exported.

So misc shots from the past few days

Hello friends and family!

A recent highlight of our lives in HCMC has been going to Saigon Heat games. The Heat are a professional basketball team playing in the Asean League against teams from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, etc. The quality of play is actually pretty decent and the atmosphere is great...obviously a sport that is rapidly gaining popularity in Vietnam. We had to grin at some of the entertainment and advertising, was a bit different than what we were used to at Blazer games.  Ang even got interviewed by the local media at the last game, I think they were impressed by her spirit!

Misc Pics, including one of Owen and one of our favorite PDX peeps, Bert!

Happy Labor Day Weekend!

Here in Vietnam we also had a long weekend due to the National Day holiday. We decided to head out of town and go to the nearest beach area, Ho Tram! It's only a two hour drive from our house and it was spectacular! We stayed at The Grand, which is a new hotel/casino/resort built by MGM. I think the pictures speak for themselves. We had a great time.

Before we took off we celebrated Owen's 7th birthday. We are so proud of our little man. On the way to the beach he told us that he was elected to the Student Council!

I've also included a couple of interior shots of our villa, the furniture certainly makes it feel more like a "home."
